Mrs. Carole J. Ogleton Webster

Carole J. Ogleton Webster was born May 6, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa to Reverend William and Mrs Donna Ogleton. She was educated in the public schools of Des Moines, Iowa; Terre Haute and South Bend, Indiana.

While students at Wilberforce University, Carole and Reverend Robert Vaughn Webster married. This union of 47 years was a creative and dynamic ministry that encompassed the 11th, 17th, 16th, and 3rd Episcopal Districts of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

In 1961, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she supported her husband's work, as Chaplain at Edward Waters College. In 1969, she became the First Lady of Saint Stephen AMEC where she faithfully and proudly served for twenty-three years.

Mrs. Webster served the AMEC in many capacities, including President of the Ministers' Spouses Alliance and Parliamentarian of the Women's Missionary Society of the East Florida Annual Conference, and Chairperson of the 11th Episcopal District's Committee on Christian Social Relations. She also served as the Connectional Chairperson of the Family Life Committee.

Mrs. Webster was employed by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Veteran's Administration and the Social Security Administration. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, National Council of Negro Women and Black Women's Agenda.

In 1992, Reverend Webster was elected and consecrated the 110th Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and Mrs. Webster became the Episcopal Supervisor presiding over the Women's Missionary Society and Ministers' Spouses Organizations in the 17th, 16th and 3rd Episcopal Districts.

Carole Janet Ogleton Webster departed this life Sunday, January 18, 2004. Bishop Webster then appointed their daughter, Mrs. Rowena White, to serve as Episcopal Supervisor.
