The Episcopal Supervisor of the First Episcopal District,
Mother Mary Ann Norris, has worked untiringly at all levels of church
initiatives within the AMEC and beyond. She initiated the “Adopt
a Missionary Child” program under the WMS Family Life Committee
in New York.
As a retired New York City teacher of 23 years, she
served as a teacher, counselor and dean. Her focus was to make each
student the best that they could be while exemplifying professional
characteristics of honesty, fairness and integrity to all.
As the spouse of Bishop Richard F. Norris, the 116th
elected and consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal
Church, they have raised two sons, Richard F Norris II and Rev.
Marcellus A. Norris, and they have three grandchildren.
When she has time of her own, she enjoys sewing, playing
table tennis, listening to music and collecting butterfly pins.
Her travels have been and are continual, including, but not limited
to, across the United States, West Indies, Jamaica, Virgin Island,
Bermuda, Hawaii, Japan, South, Central and West Africa.
