Educated at Fisk University, Ohio State University,
Bachelor of Arts, Atlanta University, Masters Degree Library Science
and further study, at Indiana University, Episcopal Supervisor Delorez
Allen Hunter, used her professional training to accent her church
and community work.
As a professional librarian, she contributed articles
of devotional literature to several publications; and, she was one
of the authors of The History of the African Methodist Episcopal
Church Women’s Missionary Society. In 2004 she was named a
Bridge Builder by St Stephen AMEC.
As the wife of Bishop John Ellsworth Hunter, 101stelcted
and consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church,
she joined her husband in meaningful work improving the lives of
women and children, in particular. Together they served the 15th
and 19th Episcopal Districts in South Africa where a church is named
in her honor.
She is a Life Member of the Women’s Missionary
Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; a Life Member
of the NAACP; and, former officer of Church Women United.
She is the mother of two daughters and one son; three
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
