Mrs. Yvonne Henning-Parks
Episcopal Supervisor, Eighth Episcopal District

Mrs. Yvonne Henning-Parks has served as Episcopal Supervisor of the Eighth Episcopal District from 2000-2004, and returned to the same District with Bishop Cornal Garnett Henning, Presiding Prelate, to continue her supervisory work for the next Quadrennial.

Mrs. Parks is the fourth child of The Reverend Herman W. Henning, Sr. and Elizabeth Miller Henning and she is Bishop C. Garnett Henning’s sister. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wilberforce, A Master of Arts Degree from Ball State University and completed post-graduate studies at Indiana University and Butler University.

Supervisor Parks has been active all of her life in the African Methodist Episcopal Church:

  • Served at the local church level in many positions
  • Chairperson of Indiana and Chicago Conference Branch Social Christian Relations
  • Chairperson of the Fourth District Research and Status of Black Women Committee
  • Fourth Episcopal Church Director of the YPD (13 years)
  • Served in several positions with the Indiana and Chicago Conference Ministers’ Spouses &I Widows
  • Holds Life Membership in the Women’s Missionary Society
  • Robed in Johannesburg, South African, April 2, 2000
  • Served as an educator and administrator for 32 years

She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Mrs. Parks has been married to Rev. Walter D. Parks, Jr. for 44 years; she is the mother of three children, Walter D. Parks, III, the Rev. Kevin E. Parks and Pamela Parks Bowman; and grandmother of five grandchildren.
